Happy New Year

It was nice to finish 2008 and start 2009 with a visit from Mark and Wendy. They arrived on the Monday after we got back from Austria and stayed with us for the week. We spent a solid couple of days souring the post-Christmas sales at Harrods, Harvey Nicks, Selfridges and a variety of high street shops (a number of good purchases were made!). We also managed to squeeze in two walking tours - one around Monument to Fleet St and one in Highgate - as well a visit to the Tate Modern to see the Rothko exhibition.

New year's eve was spent at a tapas restaurant in Notting Hill (along with Uncle Alan who is also in town) and then at 11:30 raced off to Hyde Park to watch the fireworks off the London Eye at midnight. It was a good night but freezing!

Dinner for new year:

We continued to spend a lot of time eating - brunches and dinners mostly. It was also Wendy's birthday on the 3rd so we decided we'd go to dinner at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon which was great.

Now, I know I was a bit slack with keeping the blog up to date in the last few months - a number of people have commented ;-) so I am hoping to do a better job in 09 (but keep an eye out for some old blog entries and pics of my road trip north with my mum and dad).

Happy 2009!
